SUBJECTS
AND SYLLABUS FOR COMBINED COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
The Punjab Public Service Commission has
revised the syllabus by re-introducing 29 Optional Subjects for its Combined
Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Provincial Management Service.
All candidates shall take all Compulsory Subjects and three of the Optional Subjects
(not more than one from each group) carrying 200 Marks each. Thus total marks
for the said Examination will be 1200 Marks. Detail of Compulsory
Subjects and Optional Subjects is as under:-

1.
The written examination shall comprise eight compulsory
subjects.
2.
A candidate shall answer the papers in English, except the
paper at Sr.No.2, unless otherwise directed.
3.
Time allowed for each subjective paper shall be three hours
and MCQ type paper shall be of two hours.
4.

Non-Muslim candidates have the option either to attempt MCQs on Islamic Studies or the same number of questions in a separate section.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
·
No candidate shall be summoned for Viva Voce and
Psychological test unless he has obtained at least 33 percent marks in each
indifidual written paper and 50 marks in the aggregate of the written portion
of the examination. No candidates shall be considered to have qualified in the
examination unless he also obtains at least 50 percent marks in Viva Voce and
Psychological tests. Failure in or absence in Viva Voce and Pschological tests
shall mean that the candidate has failed to qualify for appointment and his
name will not be included in the merit list.

Names of candidates who qualify shall be arranged in order
to merit according to the aggregate marks obtained in the examination.
·
In the event of a tie,the orderof merit shall be determined
in accordancewith the highest marks secured in the Psychological / Viva Voce
tests, should the marks in the Psychological / Viva Voce test of the candidates
who tie,be equal than the order of merit shall be dedided in accordance
withthighest marks obtained by such candidates in the aggregate of the
compulsory subjects. If these are the same, then the elder candidate would be
placed above the younger one.
English:
The paper is intended to test the ability of the candidates in functional English comprising precis writing, translation from Urdu to English, composition, usage of idioms and an eassy on one of the several specified topics.

Urdu:
This paper will test the ability of the candidates to translate an English passage into Urdu, usage of legal terms in Urdu, composition, precis writing, use of idioms and an essay on one of the several specified topics.
Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies & General Knowledge:
This will be MCQ type paper on Pakistan Studies, basic principles of islam, fundamental beliefs and practices, everyday science, current world affairs and also broad facts of historical, political, geographical and economic significance.
This paper will test the ability of the candidates to translate an English passage into Urdu, usage of legal terms in Urdu, composition, precis writing, use of idioms and an essay on one of the several specified topics.

PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST AND VIVA VOCE 200 Marks
Candidates who qualify the
written portion of the examination shall be called for the Psychological and
Viva Voce Test, as under:-
(a) Psychological Test
Psychological Test comprises of
paper and pencil test and group tasks. Such tests are designed to assess
abilities, attitude and personality characteristics of the candidates with special
regards to their aptitude for the judicial services. Candidate's performance in
psychological assessment will form the part of his/her over all performance.
(b) Viva Voce Test
Each candidate will be
interviewed by a Board. He/She will be asked questions on matters of general
interest. The object of theinterview is to assess his/her suitability for
the service for which he/she is a candidate and in
framing their assessment the Board will attach particular importance to the
moral and ethical qualities of the candidates, his/her intelligence and
alertness of mind, vigour and strength of character and his/her potential
qualities of leadership. The Board will also take into consideration his/her
extra-moral activities such as sports,
hobbies etc. and their effect on his/her personality and character.

the Commission for permanent posts
of Inspectors Legal. At present only male candidates who are Law Graduates from
any recognized University are eligible to apply. the candidates are required to
take written examination of Graduate/Law Graduate level in the following

Important Note:-
No candidate will be called for interview and Psychological
tests unless he/she has obtained 33% marks in each written paper and 50% marks
in the aggregate. In the interview a candidate must
secure 50% marks to qualify. Aggregate of written examination andinterview determines the over
all merit.
